Here at Pink House UK HQ, we love a tea party - particularly one with pancakes! Not all the team is in the office on a Tuesday, so we decided to have a two-part tea party this year.
Everyone who was available got involved with the flipping of the pancakes and we did get some fun footage of that!
The story of Pancake Day came from early Christians who ran down their larder in preparation for fasting during Lent - anything left was finished up on the last Tuesday, for example eggs, sugar and fat making perfect pancakes. The literal meaning of "Shrove" comes from the absolution that was granted by the priest to the individual prior to the fasting period - this is always on a Tuesday and always 47 days before Easter Sunday.
Next year we will do a pancake race and we will all be getting lots of practice in as we have a couple of expert pancake flippers and good runners in our ranks!!
